Effective January 1, 2013 all contractors and subcontracts on public works projects in Pennsylvania will be required to use the U.S.Government’s E-Verify process for all newly hired employees. Read the full document here.
Now is the time to talk to U.S. Security Care about these new requirements to avoid penalties for failure to comply with this new law. Penalties for failure to verify an employee through E-Verify include:
a written warning for the first violation,
30 days debarment from public work contracts for a second violation,
six to twelve months debarment for a third and subsequent violations.
Willful violation may incur debarment for three years
Civil money penalties between $250 and $1,000 may also be assessed for failure to provide the required verification form.
